To set these large spikes, you need to first make a one-eigth inch hole in the leather. with a hole punch tool. Then put the ribbed rivet post through the hole and place it on top of an anvil or a sturdy metal surface. Place the large spike setter over the spike and tap it down with a hammer onto the ribbed post to secure the spike. This is very permanent and extremely strong. This spike can set in leather thicknesses from 2 oz to 13 oz (1/32 inch to 13/64 inch).
