The hexagon screw type spike is easy to set. To set these small spikes, you need to first make a one-eigth inch hole in the leather. with a hole punch tool. Insert the screw in the hole. Then take a screwdriver and tighten the screw to the spike. This screw spike can set in leather thicknesses from 4 oz to 13 oz (1/16 inch to 13/64 inch). If you want to make sure the screw never loosens over time, you can add a drop of locktite to the threads. Loctite is available at most hardware stores. However, most people don't find it necessary to use loctite it they tighten screw really well.
