Leather Artisan Full Time

Job Description: The job involves hand crafting leather products such as custom and personalized belts, guitar straps, dog collars, wallets, coin purses, key tags etc. Tasks involve hand cutting, stamping, lacing, painting and dyeing leather goods.  Many leather craft hand tools will be used. Also production orders require using mechanical machines for cutting, imprinting, sewing and riveting.  Other tasks include customer service, invoicing, receiving payments, preparing parcels for shipment.

Requirements:  Hand craft experience and critical eye for detail but will train specific leather techniques.

Essential Skills:  Reading text, document use, numeracy, good oral communication, working well with others, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, significant use of memory, computer use, speak English, read English, write English.

Work Setting:  Private studio, manufacture, self employed

Education:   Art or Craft College education preferred.  Completion of high school required. Some college/vocational school, technical training or university.

Pay: Starting $14.35 per hour

Location:  Dartmouth

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
