These solid brass screw posts are also referred to as Chicago Screws and Binder Posts. In leather work, the threaded post allows you to open leather pieces when required. You can use screw posts on thick leather belts where the buckle attaches in case you want to change buckles in the future. They are great for use on rifle slings where the leather wraps around the swivels. These Chicago Screws are also used on thick dog collars for strength to hold the leather attached to the buckle and D Ring. Should you want it more permanent, you can add Loctite Threadlocker from a hardware store.
